Thursday, August 26, 2010 found the CDDS Executive and Board of Directors meeting for the first time under the Presidency of Dr. Tobin Doty.  Before sitting down to an excellent meal at Halo Restaurant we sat down to the business at hand.

Highlights

This was the last meeting for Dr. Tara Habijanac as she leaves her tenure as Past President after volunteering on the CDDS Executive for the past 6 years.  We all owe Tara a great debt of gratitude for serving with style & grace and were pleased to present her with a plaque to display proudly in her office.  Thank-you Tara for your dedication and warmth.

We were happy to have Dr. Bob Huff from the Alberta Dental Association & College as our special guest.  He is looking forward with great anticipation to the New Dentists Meet-Up Event being held the evening of September 9^th.  This event is for all new dentists in the Calgary region as is being sponsored by the ADA&C and CDSPI.  Dr. Jack Stockton will be there as well before his full day lecture on Friday.  We already have 37 dentists registered to attend.  If you are a new dentist in Calgary and interested in joining our group please contact Jane at the CDDS.

Dr. Kuen Chow shared that CUPS (Calgary Urban Project Society) will be beginning it’s Capital Campaign for the new location this year.  The dental clinic will be larger and share the sterilization area with the medical clinic.  Please keep this in mind as you plan your philanthropic donations for 2010-2011.  Any amount is given is greatly appreciated.  Please note Kuen is also seeking dentists to volunteer for the Saturday Extraction Clinic at CUPS.  It runs from 9:00am to 1:00pm.  Contact Kuen at 403-607-7768.

Our director of Social, Dr. Richard McCowan, was sad to report that the Annual Golf Tournament tentatively scheduled for Friday, September 10^th has been cancelled due to low response.  The Fall Formal scheduled for Saturday, November 13^th will be hosted at La Chaumière with the band TR3 performing.  Please save the date for a night of wining, dining, and dancing.
