The Diagnosis, Emergency Treatment and Endodontic Considerations of Dental Trauma
December 15, 2023 @ 8:30 am - 4:00 pm
Course Title:
The Diagnosis, Emergency Treatment and Endodontic Considerations of Dental Trauma
Course Description
The first part of the lecture will give a detailed description of diagnostic procedures to assess oral and dental trauma. Necessary radiographic, facio-skeletal and oral evaluations will be explored and discussed with the support of actual cases. A good understanding of the diagnosis and emergency treatment of common dental injuries can differentiate between saving a tooth or losing it to late complications.
The second part will focus on the newly published treatment guidelines for fractured crowns and roots, luxations, and avulsions with an emphasis on the best immediate emergency response.
In the latter part of this lecture, alternative treatment options for “hopeless” teeth in young individuals will be discussed, including revascularization, root submersion, decoronation, intentional replantation and auto-transplantation.
