The use of dental implants as the preferred method of tooth replacement continues to escalate worldwide and new forms of predictable therapy are required to satisfy the growing demand for ideal esthetics and function. Predictability begins with a proper diagnosis and identification of the risk factors each individual patient presents with. A sound treatment plan can then be developed with a thorough understanding of the implant prosthetic options available for that patient.

This presentation will illustrate the elements of a thorough diagnostic work up. It will address the current concepts of timing between soft tissue development, hard tissue development, implant placement, implant prosthetics and the coordination between the implant surgeon and the implant restorative dentist.
