Orthodontics and Restorative Dentistry to Treat Periodontally-compromised TMD Patients
December 9, 2022 @ 8:30 am - 4:00 pm
Loss of occlusal vertical dimension is a frequent consequence for the patient with reduced levels of periodontal attachment, loss of posterior teeth, and chronic parafunctional habits. The presentations will describe treatment strategies combining orthodontics with fixed and removable appliances, periodontal therapy, and restorative dentistry to ensure predictable outcomes with excellent long-term occlusal stability.
The concepts of posterior bite collapse and stomatologic collapse secondary to TMD will be discussed and elaborated in case presentations. Heavy emphasis will be placed on the indications and use of occlusal appliances in the management of multidisciplinary cases.
